Nuplex Resins has announced a price increase for coating resins sold in North America effective May 20, 2011. The increase will average 14 percent and will affect all solvent and waterborne products, including alkyds, acrylics, polyesters, emulsions and amino resins. The company said the primary drivers forcing this increase are the unrelenting rise in critical feed stock pricing, led by propylene, which has moved to a new historical high, and higher crude oil costs. As a result since January, and accelerating in April, hydrocarbon, solvent and monomer prices have continued to increase.
